Edith Beerdsen

Former PhD student of Prof. B. Smit (2003-2007). Currently works as Acting Assistant Professor of Lawyering at New York University School of Law.

Edith Beerdsen teaches in the first-year Lawyering Program. Her research focuses on the use of scientific evidence in civil litigation, issues of civil procedure, as well as on empirical legal questions. Prior to joining NYU School of Law, she was a civil litigator at Davis Polk & Wardwell LLP, where she worked on matters ranging from legal-malpractice defense to securities class actions, with a particular focus on expert discovery. She also maintained an active pro bono practice focused on immigration and criminal-justice issues.
